ALL SUBMISSIONS ARE WELCOMED!!

The Southern Journal of Policy and Justice (SJPJ) at Wake Forest University School of Law is calling for papers for its upcoming volume, Roots of Resilience: Environmental Justice and the Black Community. This edition focuses on highlighting scholarship and practice that advance the cause of justice for marginalized communities, particularly through the lens of environmental justice.

SJPJ's mission is to provide a platform for discussions at the intersection of law, policy, and social justice, giving voice to underrepresented communities and exploring the legal challenges that hinder equitable progress. We are committed to promoting scholarship that offers actionable insights into the systemic inequities faced by Black and other marginalized communities.

Statement of Purpose

Since its founding, the Southern Journal of Policy and Justice has championed critical legal thought and social justice advocacy. We believe in the power of law to transform communities but recognize the ways in which it often perpetuates injustice. Our journal is a space to reflect on these tensions, challenge the status quo, and contribute to meaningful, forward-thinking solutions.

Volume XIX, Roots of Resilience, will center on the theme of environmental justice, specifically exploring how legal systems impact communities of color, low-income neighborhoods, and historically marginalized groups in their fight for clean air, water, and land. From exploring the legacy of environmental racism to examining the legal tools for resistance and advocacy, we invite scholars, practitioners, activists, and artists to submit works that engage with these critical issues.
